The internet

It is a network of computers connected to each other, that allows us to communicate. The internet is a network of global exchanges - including private, public, business, academic and government networks - connected by guided, wireless and fiber-optic technologies.

​Types of internet connections:

• Dial up: is a form of Internet access that uses the facilities of the public switched telephone network (PSTN) to establish a connection to an Internet service provider (ISP) by dialing a telephone number on a conventional telephone line. It is slower than others internet connections.

• DSL: Plugs into your phone line

• Cable: Uses the cable TV connection

• 3G and 4G: These are wireless internet connections often used by smartphones, you can also get these types of connections for your home.
